Description One way of describing ‘hydroponics’ is that it is a method involving plants that are being grown using certain kinds of nutrients and water but without the use of soil. By certain means, water must be sent to the area of the plant root. The system may be surrounded by a particular container or trough that is crammed with substrate; the substrate is an alternative to soil. Some materials that can be found in this soil substitute are wood chips, pebbles, sand and perlite, among others. The substrate should have enough capacity for holding adequate amounts of water but still adequately absorbent for gas to be exchanged in an efficient manner.
This book provides some useful information about hydroponics. This system involves a lot of methods that are utilized for sending the water to the root section of the soilless plant. For every plant which is cultivated in such a manner, there is a certain kind of water emitter provided as a part of a drip irrigation system. One method of recycling the water in this arrangement is through what is called the ebb and flow method. Another technique involves watering from the underside by allowing the tray to fill up totally with water and then draining the extra water.

He found that it was ideal for the types of plants he wants to grow and also that not only is it simple and easy to do, it saved him a lot of money in the long run. Allen Dunn has shared the information in this book in such a manner that persons who are considering this or those who are hearing about it for the first time will find out how simple and ideal it is to choose the hydroponics method of gardening.

I got the free sample of this Book for my Kindle. After reading just the first chapter I realized that THIS book is 10 times better then the first Kindle Book I bought on Hydroponics. I then bought the Dunn sample and like that system. For that first Kindle Book I paid $90. It was very, very far over my head and of no immediate use to me. I do intend to engage in hydroponic home gardening, and this book I can use. I could never use any of the fancy $90 book. I'll keep the expensive one though for research. I'll study this Book by Dunn as I make decisions on systems and equipment.I'm adding this part after several days of reading and planning my own hydroponic system.
Dunn's Book is now the center piece of my study and planning for my hydroponic gardening. I was going to buy a paper version of this Book to give my "non-Kindle gardener" and found out to my surprise that this Book is ONLY available in the Kindle edition.
Kindles are now cheap enough I might well just buy another Kindle to give my gardener so HE can read the same stuff I am reading.

This is great info but very outdated.
Wouldn't recommend unless ur just looking for vintage hydro I.e. the lighting is not about led
Love the details about the nutrients and natural pesticides. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting to start a hydroponic or organic garden.
this reminded of a book that an eighth grader would write that was not reviewed by his teacher before publishing. it was filled with inaccuracies and even poor grammar and misspelled words. i would definitely not recommend it to anyone for the reasons noted.
The book, if we can call it a book is a sparce jusxtaposition of paragraphs with small resolution photos that does not more than summarize what you can find for free in the net.
While this is a good starting place and guide it seems to assume that the people reading it have unlimted funds and most of their suggestions point to the high end of the market and large projects. Still a good reference.
The book was worthless. The information was not enough that I could use. It sits in the book case. Disappointed.
Complete garbage and I'm sorry I wasted my money on it. Very short and very light on detail and sometimes the sentences don't even make sense. There is nothing "DIY" about it - just vague descriptions of concepts. If you've ever watered a housplant, you are probably too advanced for this book.
